Machining
Islex services include table routing, CNC machining and lathe machining. Our workshop is equipped with a Woodtron table router machine that can cut any plastic sheet to size. For more precise machined components we use a Doosan CNC machine. Our lathe machine is capable of completing turning work from 900mm length to 400mm diameter.
We stock a large variety of plastic sheets, rods, tubes and bars such as:
- High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
- Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE)
- Polypropylene (PP)
- Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE/Teflon)
- Nylon
- Acetal
- Acrylic
- Fluorosint
- Polycarbonate (PV)
- Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
Plastic Welding
For over 20 years, Islex Australia has offered plastic welding as part of its comprehensive PE piping service. In addition to supplying and welding pipelines onsite, Islex is also a trusted provider of professional inspection and maintenance services to local governments through-out south-east Queensland.
All work is performed according to the latest Australian standards – AS/NZS 4130 and AS/NZS 4129 with certified welders.
The welding of plastic covers a number of different techniques each with their own special application and method: sheet butt welding, extrusion, electrofusion, HDPE pipe butt welding.
Sheet Butt Welding
Involves the face-to-face or ‘butt’ joining to two sheets of plastic. This form of welding is the preferred method as the process is much faster, is fully repeatable and the welding parameters are precisely controlled.
Extrusion Welding
Manual form of welding for the fabrication of thick section plastics to produce custom made tanks and related items.
HDPE Pipe Butt Welding
Used to join together lengths of pipe together to form a string or network of pipeline. This technique can be used to join pipe to itself, fittings, flanges, valves and other equipment as required.
Electrofusion Welding
Used to join pipe together using a portable machine with specially designed fittings that have in-built electric heating elements.
